Teenager Ejected from Motorcycle on East Brunswick Road, Seriously Injured

An East Brunswick teenager sustained significant injuries after being ejected from his motorcycle on a local road during rush hour.

The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old male who lives in East Brunswick, NJ, was driving his 2012 Kawasaki bike along Ryders Lane and approaching the intersection with Tices Lane when he was struck by a 2015 Subaru Forrester. The driver of the Subaru was reportedly making a left turn as the vehicles collided.

The force of impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from his bike. He landed on the pavement and suffered serious injuries. Emergency medical responders and paramedics rushed to the scene of the motorcycle accident and stabilized the injured motorcyclist before taking him via helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

The driver of the car, a 57-year-old Jackson NJ woman, did not sustain any injuries in the collision. The reality is that drivers of cars, trucks, and other larger motor vehicles are far more likely than motorcyclists to escape serious injury in the event of a crash. That’s because motorists, unlike bikers, are protected by the body of a car, as well as airbags, seat belts, and other safety restraints that prevent vehicle drivers and passengers from being catastrophically injured.

Detectives with the East Brunswick Police Department Special Operations Section are currently investigating the Ryders Lane motorcycle accident and attempting to determine exactly what caused the collision. Depending on the findings of investigators, it’s possible that the Subaru driver could be ticketed for a traffic violation or even criminally charged. Regardless of the outcome of the accident investigation, however, the injured biker may still be able to file a lawsuit against the motorist and seek compensation for his accident-related injuries.
