Motorcyclist Critically Injured by Hit-and-Run Driver on Route 80

A motorcyclist was critically injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Route 80 in Allamuchy, New Jersey.

The accident occurred around 5:15 p.m., meaning that the highway conditions were heavily congested due to rush-hour traffic. According to authorities, the biker, a 37-year-old Hopatcong man, was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and traveling eastbound on Route 80 when he approached mile marker 21.5 and collided with a silver minivan.

Other motorists dialed 911 to alert law enforcement to the scary accident. NJ State troopers from the Hope NJ station rushed to the scene of the crash, where they found the injured motorcyclist and his bike. When police got to the area, the other motorist involved in the accident was gone.

The victim was rushed by helicopter to Morristown Memorial Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for his injuries. He was later listed in critical condition.

Meanwhile, New Jersey State Police troopers are investigating the hit-and-run accident and trying to determine the identity of the minivan driver. At this time, information about the police investigation is scarce. Authorities are asking members of the public to come forward if they witnessed the Route 80 collision.

If police can eventually identify and apprehend the motorist accused of causing the motorcycle accident, the driver would likely face criminal charges for leaving the scene of an accident. Additionally, it is possible that the victim could file a personal injury lawsuit against the driver for compensation to cover medical bills, pain and suffering, and other damages.
