When It’s Your Time, It’s Your Time: NJ Man Survives Motorcycle Accident, Dies in Shooting

A New Jersey man who survived a scary motorcycle crash in 2014 was recently killed while sitting inside a car.

Kevin Miles was a resident of Jersey City, NJ and a father of four children. He was shot and killed as he sat in a vehicle parked on Stuyvesant Avenue in Jersey City around 2:00 p.m. on a weekday. Approximately 20 minutes after police came across Miles’ body, he was declared dead as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.

Miles could have died nearly two years earlier. On April 19, 2014, Miles suffered catastrophic injuries while performing stunts on a motorcycle along Bidwell Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey. Although Miles was wearing a helmet while he rode his bike, the helmet fell off prior to the crash because it was not secured on his head.

The terrifying motorcycle accident left Miles with serious physical injuries. After the bike crash, emergency medical responders took Miles to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Remarkably, against all odds, Miles was able to recover from his motorcycle accident injuries and got a little more time to be with his family members, including his four kids.

Jersey City police and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office are actively investigating the shooting death of the victim. At this time, law enforcement has not yet identified a suspect in the homicide.
