Former High School Football Star Killed in Motorcycle Accidents on Road in Toms River, NJ

A Toms River NJ man tragically died in a motorcycle accident on a local roadway.

The fatal auto accident occurred during the late-night hours on Wave Way in Toms River, New Jersey. The victim was driving his bike, a 2012 Yamaha motorcycle, on the road when he moved through an intersection and was struck by another vehicle.

The victim was reportedly traveling east on Wave Way when he passed the intersection at Harbor View Lane. The other motorist, a 17-year-old Toms River resident, was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima and headed southbound on the other road at the time of the motor vehicle collision.

Afterwards, the motorcyclist was transported via helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. Tragically, doctors at the hospital were unable to save the victim; he was pronounced dead at the medical facility the following morning.

The victim was just 26 years old when he died in the fatal bike accident. He was a local man who attended Toms River High School North and resided on Bayview Drive in Toms River. According to friends and family of the victim, he was a football star in high school and helped propel his team to the New Jersey state championship in 2007. After graduating from the Toms River high school, the victim went to college at Temple University.

Detectives with the Toms River Police Department are still investigating the fatal motorcycle crash and attempting to determine exactly what happened. At this time, law enforcement has not issued any traffic citations or filed any criminal charges in connection with the motor vehicle accident. However, it is possible that the driver of the car involved in the crash could face serious criminal charges for vehicular manslaughter or assault by auto, depending on the circumstances leading up to the fatal collision.

Regardless of the outcome of the police investigation, it remains possible that the family of the motorcycle accident victim could file a wrongful death lawsuit against the other motorist. If the driver of the Nissan acted negligently in the moments leading up to the crash, he could potentially be liable for damages in a wrongful death claim.
