Critical Injuries for Motorcyclists Who Collide With Minivan

In Montvale, New Jersey, a motorcyclist suffered critical injuries following a collision with a minivan. The crash happened early in the evening just after 6:00 p.m., on Friday, February 24, 2017, at West Grand and Summit Avenues off Chestnut Ridge Road close to the Garden State Parkway.

Glenn Hoskins, age 47, of Park Ridge, was riding a 2003 Harley Davidson, which T-boned a 2009 Toyota Sienna on the driver’s side. This is where one vehicle strikes the side of another at an intersection. The Toyota entered the path of the motorcycle from the parking lot at 102 Chestnut Ridge Road toward the left onto West Grand Avenue. The couple were riding their motorcycle home from a day trip to Bear Mountain.

Mr. Hoskins suffered traumatic injuries, and was airlifted by Airmed to Hackensack University Medical Center. He suffered two collapsed lungs, several broken ribs, and a fractured hip. He is comatose.

His wife was also hospitalized as a result of the crash. Stacey Seablade Hoskins, age 46, was transported to the hospital by ambulance. She suffered a fractured pelvis, fractured ribs and a fracture of the lower part of her spine. In addition, she broke her ankle, and has had to undergo two surgeries.

Responders to the scene had to free the driver of the minivan, a woman from Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., who was transported to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. She sustained injuries that did not seem to be life-threatening. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Investigation Unit was conducting an investigation into the accident in conjunction with Montvale police.

Mr. Hoskins’ sister, Lisa Hoskins Caulfield, set up a Gofundme page for the couple, who are parents to three children. As of the beginning of March, more than $3,000 were raised to help pay for their medical expenses.
